1. SMS SCRUBBING COMES INTO EFFECT. HICCUPS FOR BANKING E-COMM OPS AS OTPS FAIL
The functioning of banks and ecommerce firms were hit on Monday as telecom service providers (TSPs) Started implementing the second phase of SMS regulation. The move disrupted several crucial services, specially sending of one time password (OTP) by banks and ecommerce firms for various services.
"The telecom regulatory Authority of India (TRAD guideline that the verification process of every SMS content will have to be done before it is delivered known as scrubbing was implemented on . Monday after several delays. As result, unverified and unregistered SMS messages were blocked by telecom operators.
2. FIRST EVER 'UAD SUMMIT ON MARCH 12

3 WHY HIMACHAL PRADESH IS PLANNING TO LEGALIZE CULTIVATION
*Ina significant announcement in his annual budget speech last week,Himachal Chief Minister Jairam Thakur announced that the state government is coming up with the policy to allow controlled cultivation of hemp or cannabis in the state.
This means the state wants to legalize commercial cultivation of the plant for non recreational uses such as making medicine and fabrics. For astate thatis kn-wnfori ‘'Mallan. ream’ which is the charas or hash or hashish which comes from the Malana Valley in Kullu district.
Isn’t cannabis cultivation ille: al in India?Yes and No.
In 1985, India banned the cultivation of cannabis plant under the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) Act. But this act allows state governments to allow controlled and regulated cultivation of hemp for obtaining its fibre and seed for industrial or horticultural purposes.
In 2018, Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to do so,allowing the cultivation of only those strains of cannabis plant which have a low concentration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) the primary psychoactive constituent of cannabis that produces a high sensation. «Uttar Pradesh followed a similar policy, while Madhya Pradesh and Manipur are reportedly considering it as well.
4. ONLY HALF OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS ANGANWADIS HAVE TAP WATER SUPPLY
According to information provided to the parliamentary standing committee on water resources, one half of Government schools and An: anwadis have tap water supply, despite a hundred day campaign for 100% coverage being launched by the jal Shakti ministry in October 2020. “The committee also noted the progress of the flagship jal Jeevan mission.
The campaign aims to provide potable piped water supply for drinking and cooking purposes and tap water for hand washing and in toilets in every school, anganbadi and ashramshala or residential tribal School.
It was launched on 2™4 October, 2020 (Gandhi Jayanti ). The 100-day period should have ended on 10" January, 2021. However, some states/UT’s have indicated that they need more time to complete the task and sustain the efforts.
Therefore, the campaign has been extended till 31% March, 2021
*As of now, only 48.5% of Anganwadis and 53.3% of shools had tap water supply.
"Less than 8% of schools in Uttar Pradesh and 11% in West Bengal have it, while it is available in only 2-6% of Anganwadis in Assam, Jharkhand, U U.P., Chhattisgarh and Bengal.
EVEN STATES
Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Telangana an Punjab achieved 100% coverage. Around 1.82 lakh grey water management structures and 1.42 lakh rainwater harvesting structures were also constructed in schools and Anganwadis centres.
Children are more susceptible to water borne diseases (Diarrhoea, Cholera, Typhoid), more so, when there is also a need for repeated washing of hands as a precautionary measure during the pandemic. .
Other nutritional issues and the health hazards emerge in children from on account of lack of potable drinkina water. *About Jal Jeevan Mission:Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) envisages supply of 55 litre of water per person per day to every rural household 204 functional household tap
