1. SOUTH AFRICA DID NOT RETURN ASTRAZENECA VACCINES TO INDIA SAYS COUNTRY’S HEALTH MINISTER
*South Africa’s Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Tuesday clarified that the country has not returned the astrazeneca vaccines to the serum Institute of India (SII).
IT would like to clarify a few media reports that said we have returned the vaccines to India. We have not returned the Astrazeneca vaccines to India”, Mkhize said at the Parliament during the state of the nation address debate.
The Astrazeneca doses we purchased have been offered to the African Union platform, of which we are part of, and the AU will distribute to those Countries who have already expressed interest in acquiring the stock”, the Minister said.

In what is being dubbed as a ‘historic’ verdict, a
Delhi court on Wednesday acquitted journalist Priya Ramani in the criminal defamation case filed by former Union Minister MJ Akbar.The trial begin in January 2019, and today’s verdict was hailed as a significant one for women and #MeToo movement in India.
Akbar had filed the suit against Ramani on October 15,2018, for allegedly defaming him by accusing him of sexual misconduct decades ago when he was a journalist. Reading out the order, the court said that there are social stigma attached with the allegations. society must understand the impact of sexual abuse and harassment on the victim, and added, “A women has right to put her grievance even after decades”. The court further stated that Akbar is a man of reputation, a fact which was not disputed by Ramani.
*The official handle of Me Too movement in India celebrated the verdict and wrote: “We won this’. It also added in a later tweet that the courts order was significant. “No words right now...... Just tears, goosebumps, solidarity to all. We owe a depth of gratitude to the courage of Priya Ramani,” It wrote in a subsequent tweet.

4. FOR FIRST TIME CHINA ACKNOWLEDGES CASUALTIES IN GALWAN CLASH
For the first time, China on Friday acknowledged that it had suffered casualties during the galwan valley clash in June 2020 by publicly announcing posthumous gallantry citations for four soldiers, including the regimental commander, for their actions.
After the Galwan face-off on June 15, India had immediately declared that 20 Indian soldiers had been killed in action during the hand to hand fight. These were the first casualties at the India-China border since 1975.
On Friday, Chinese state media reported that the Central Military Commissionannounced that the four Frontier soldiers had been recognised for their “sacrifice” for the clash with India at Galwan in June las year.
